Blog 6: Redefining Wealth: Beyond Money and Into Meaning
When you hear the word wealth, what comes to mind? For most of us, it’s money in the bank, the dream house, the investments. But what if true wealth had less to do with your portfolio and more to do with your energy, your values, and the way you live your life?
That’s exactly what my guest, Christopher Mackin, challenges us to think about. Christopher is a seasoned wealth advisor, entrepreneur, Reiki master, and philanthropist. With over two decades in the finance world, he knows money inside and out—but he also knows that money alone doesn’t create fulfillment.

From Money To Energy
Christopher shared something that shook me: atoms are 99% energy and only 1% matter. If that’s what we’re made of, why do most of us spend 99% of our focus on the physical and almost none on the energetic?
His philosophy reframes wealth as WELL-th—a holistic abundance that integrates:
* Purposeful creation
* Balance between work and play
* Conscious connection to community and nature
* Generosity that aligns with your values
It’s not just about assets. It’s about alignment.

Money As A Tool
I confessed that for years I held an unhealthy mindset around money—thinking wanting more was greedy or shallow. Divorce, healing, and growth shifted my perspective. Now, I teach my kids: money is simply a tool to get things done. It magnifies who you already are. If you’re generous, more money lets you give more. If you’re selfish, money just reveals that.
Christopher echoed this. He sees money as one of the biggest points of friction in relationships—responsible for nearly half of divorces. Not because money itself is evil, but because of our relationship with it, the fears we attach to it, and the way we avoid talking about it.

The Three Pillars of Wealthy Life
Christopher laid out three pillars that anchor a truly wealthy life:
1. Do work you enjoy. It doesn’t have to be your ultimate passion, but if you’re constantly living for Friday, something’s off.
2. Balance work and play. Creation takes energy, but burnout produces empty results. A full cup creates full work.
3. Give back. True abundance flows when we give generously—time, money, or resources—to what aligns with our heart.
When you combine these with inner work—releasing scarcity mindsets, rewriting limiting beliefs, and healing your relationship with money—you open the door to both financial abundance and deep fulfillment.

Breaking Myths About Money
Christopher called out two myths that keep people stuck:
“It’s hard to make money.”* Wrong. There are infinite ways to create wealth.
“Money equals fulfillment.”* Also wrong. Money can fund experiences, but fulfillment comes from living your values and lifting others up.

Purpose Over Possessions
One of my favorite moments in this conversation was when we both agreed: flaunting assets might attract attention, but it won’t attract the right people. High-value relationships—romantic or otherwise—aren’t built on yachts, watches, or houses. They’re built on character, mindset, generosity, and purpose.
And that’s the heart of it: true wealth isn’t about what you own, but who you become and how you serve.
