Blog 9: Level Up Your Body, Level Up Your Life
If you want to transform your relationships, start with your reflection.
Your body is more than muscle and bone—it’s your vessel. The way you treat it reveals how much you value yourself, your purpose, and even your faith.
This week’s Wind in Her Hair episode dives deep into one of the seven pillars I teach: the Physical Pillar—how honoring your body transforms every other part of your life.
I used to think transformation started with a gym membership. Now I know it starts with identity.
Who are you becoming?
Are you the woman (or man) who wakes up with purpose, who moves your body with gratitude, who eats to fuel your mission?
Or are you the one who numbs, avoids, and wonders why nothing changes?
Identity Before Action
Before the routine, supplements, or steps on the treadmill—ask why.
Why do you want to be fit? Why do you want energy, confidence, or discipline?
For me, my “why” was freedom. Confidence. Legacy.
My kids now work out because they watched me do it.
My discipline became their normal.
Your why will outlast any alarm clock.
Strength, Not Stress
I used to live on the cardio side of the gym—hours on a treadmill, chasing “skinny.”
Then I noticed everyone lifting weights looked stronger, leaner, more confident.
So I switched sides.
Strength training changed everything.
It’s not about getting bulky; it’s about building a body that burns fat, holds posture, and walks with power.
Because when you strengthen your body, you strengthen your mind.
Discipline Over Feelings
If you can’t regulate your emotions, you won’t be good with money, relationships, or your body.
When you’re led by feelings, you’ll sleep in, skip the workout, and justify bad choices.
Discipline is a decision, not a mood.
Every time you follow through with yourself, you’re building self-trust.
And self-trust is the root of confidence..
The Alcohol Story
For me, the hardest discipline wasn’t food or workouts—it was alcohol.
I wasn’t drinking to celebrate. I was drinking to escape.
To numb the guilt and loneliness I felt after leaving Hawaii, after my divorce, and after being away from my kids.
It wasn’t about the wine. It was about the wound.
And God wouldn’t let me ignore it anymore.
When I finally said, “God, I invite You into this loneliness,” He met me there.
Peace replaced the craving. Purpose replaced the guilt.
Now, I still enjoy a glass occasionally, but it’s from freedom—not dependency.
That’s what honoring your body really is—freedom.
The Bigger Picture
When you treasure your body, everything else aligns:
Your relationships improve
Your confidence grows
Your purpose becomes clear
You become magnetic to peace and connection
Because a strong body builds a strong spirit.
You can’t binge your way to peace. You can’t drink your way to confidence.
But you can move your way to freedom.
